The brief was to design an infographic promoting good home learning methods, for pupils and parents during coronavirus lockdown. It had to work both on screen or printed as an A3 or A4 poster. An accompanying social media graphic was also requested.
Having read the client’s corporate guidelines, I identified the elements I felt were appropriate for the brief. I chose to alternate between icons and photography, to break up the information and make it more digestible. The large headings make it easier to skim read or identify a particular point.
The information provided was quite dense so I edited the copy down slightly. I also decided not to number the ten points to simplify the design. Instead, I broke up the central column margin with the angled boxes. I also used a dotted yellow line to guide the eye across the page, also giving the whole design a lift (the document is intended to be read from left to right, and not downwards, ie left column and then right column).
Having read the client’s corporate guidelines, I identified the elements I felt were appropriate for the brief…
I applied the “2 MILES APART” teacher and pupil graphic as a humorous subversion of the “2 METRES APART” graphics which have become so familiar during coronavirus lockdown.
I used this graphic for the social media graphic, as it is quirky and eye-catching to promote clickthroughs. However, I also provided an alternative in case the client didn’t like the humorous tone of the former version. Luckily, they loved it!
